Broke My Face
July 15th, 2008.
In the summer of 2008 I was in a bike crash.
I wiped out on my bike and slipped under the back of a parked delivery truck, the impact was solely on my my head. Although I was wearing a helmet at the time, the impact had fractured my Zogomatic bone as well as causing some nose fractures. This involved plastic surgery in which I was put under general anaesthetic, and I had my mouth cut open to allow the pushing of my bone back in place.
I brought along a camera, it was all I could think of to cope with passing time in recovery.
If there is anything to be learned here, it's always wear a helmet when you bike!
Also if you do it in a country with healthcare, it helps too.

The MRI. The fracture can be seen on the left side.

In the end the surgery went just fine. While the bone may have not settled back 100% it's as close as it can get.
